The baseline they're starting from isn't very good however because of other creative decisions. I don't believe it was in the books but it makes her death mean so much more. But I really like the idea of a rotating Lulu. Still, the timeline didn't make sense in my head because the line about Madame Lulu constantly encouraging the freaks to go to community college made me think that she had been there for much longer. I was sort of spoiled about Lulu's identity but as a book reader I already basically knew it from reading the credits.
